Clearly display the target OS for a given command
For generic commands, nothing would change.
But for an OS-specific command:
- an icon of the OS (or OSs) should be displayed
- a tag named after the OS should be added
- the prompt should change
- the background color of the shell should be different
In short: there should be multiple visual clues helping the user to quickly sort out the different commands.
The prompt alone made some users doubt the validity of http://www.commandlinefu.com/commands/view/691/get-back-to-the-root-directory-of-a-windows-drive-like-c whereas it is a valid command on DOS/Windows.
Handled by tagging.
I see your point here but now that tagging is in place, I would prefer that to be the method for categorising commands. An extra dropdown at the create stage seems a step too far.
